Detail instructions on how to download generic mod enabler
WINXP it is JSGME will install it. JSGME backs-up your original installation. Many types of MODS are available Reply Share this post. Idid that but no jsgme. Just the jsgme. Keep the Create a desktop icon option selected in the installer 2. To change the Start in folder, right-click the shortcut, select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. See Figure 1 3. To rename a shortcut, simply right-click the shortcut and select Rename Figure 1 Using JSGME with subsequently installed games is simply a matter of copying, pasting and editing an existing shortcut steps 2 and 3 above.
If you keep the Create a desktop icon option selected, the installer will add a uniquely named shortcut to your desktop. Once you've disabled all mods, simply install the new version over the top and resume using as normal.
The chosen folder will be created within the game folder if it does not already exist. Within this document all references to the MODS folder means the folder that you created at this step. There will undoubtedly be many online resources containing mods for all your favourite games. For JSGME to work correctly, it is imperative that the folders and files under the mod folder mirror exactly the structure of the game itself. Further, just as there are numerous ways of unzipping files, there are numerous ways of zipping files as well.
Not finding and fixing this problem will lead to mods not being enabled correctly and thus not appearing in game. Be aware that the duplicate folder may not necessarily have exactly the same name, but will still be obvious. Figure 7 If your mod does not appear in the list, you may need to refresh the screen. You have added your first mod. You can now add more mods, or enable the one you have just added. Figure 8 Alternatively, you can click and drag the mod from the Available Mods panel to the Activated Mods panel.
Make sure you close all mod and game files and folders before enabling. Not doing so may result in integrity problems and possible game corruption as locked files and folders are ignored by JSGME. You have enabled your first mod. Some mods may alter files that will break other mods that alter the same files. JSGME handles file integrity internally, so if you attempt to enable a mod that modifies files that previously enabled mods have also modified, you will receive a warning message similar to the below: Figure 10 This message does not indicate a definite conflict, but warns that there may be a conflict between the mod you are attempting to enable and the mods listed that have already altered the same files.
If you receive this message and you are uncertain, then you should contact the author of the mod that you are attempting to enable and obtain guidance. When you run JSGME and select " TC" from the list of mods, it does the job of backing up things from the stock install and replacing them temporarily with the mod's versions of those files and adding anything that's necessary not found in the game's default install. ONLY problem is, this doesn't do anything other than copy over files so any import tools you may need to install certain mods has to be done separately.
I imagine you do a full install of a mod to a second folder not the stock install that you keep as a backup and then you would do everything to that install that you need to, then you would find a way to only make your JSGME folder contain the files needed to properly run that mod, etc. Personally, I think for MVP it's easier to just have different complete installs for each mod. It's basically all the files that get modified in each TC mod isn't it? Or is it just a handful?
Question for you. I just downloaded the tool but have no idea how to use it with MVP yet. Is it a matter of just dragging the mods from this site into the program? Would you mind if I PM'd you to figure out how to use it? What is the preferred modding tool that everyone else uses for the game? Thanks for this Yankee4Life. Is this downloadable pack on the site anywhere? I am trying to install the Total Installer Thingy.
Figured I'd resurrect an old post. There is a simpler way to have all mods installed on only 1 installation of MVP With this installed, I have 1 installation of MVP and can swap mods in minutes. Below is a screenshot of the tool where you can switch out mods. So I downloaded this program and am trying to figure out how to use an place all of my mods in one place.
Are you just downloading mods from this site running tasks and entering them? Any other special instructions? You should create a new thread to ask these questions rather than hijacking this thread. I was simply asking questions related to the topics in the thread, but if you prefer I make a new thread, I can do so.
I was worried about making a new thread when there is already one pertaining to the questions I have. No, you highjacked this thread with your constant questions about that program. I put some detail in creating this thread some years back to help others with this and the guy who posted about that Generic Mod Enabler did it almost a year ago and then we heard nothing else from him.
If I were to use this it would save slightly over ten gigabytes of space. Ensure that you have a clean, unmodded installation of your game, preferably with the latest patch es installed. If you are already running a prior version of the Generic Mod Enabler, disable all enabled mods. Install the Generic Mod Enabler to your game's root folder and run once. You will be asked to enter a mods folder name. The chosen folder will be created if it does not already exist.
At this point you should take a snapshot of your "clean" game files by selecting the "Generate snapshot of game files" option from the "Tasks This snapshot can be used to verify the integrity of the game files at a later date, after you have installed and uninstalled mods see "Further notes on usage" for more information.
After downloading a mod, unzip it into a sub-folder under the MODS folder call the sub-folder what you like, but use something that defines what the mod is. Note that the modder may have already set up the mod to be "JSGME compatible", in which case this step and the following step will be done for you.
In such instances follow the installation instructions that come with the mod. Ensure that the unzipped files under the new mod sub-folder replicate the game's folder structure.
